Event Marketing

Nowadays, events can play an important role to market goods and services. The marketing manager needs to market well the events that can create a good hype in the media and consequently higher sales of the company.

Event marketing concept has only recently been pioneered in India. The event can be anything - a product launch, an exhibition, music concert, release of a movie, sports event like World Cup, a  seminar or workshop, college festival, and so on. The idea behind event marketing is to convert the event into a marketing opportunity.


Events need o be marketed properly, so that it gets the right hype in the media. Effective event marketing can help to achieve the desired objectives. For instance, the so called IPL (cricket tournament organized by BCCI) marketed the event effectively by creating media hype through creative advertising, media reviews, and other means of visibility. Therefore, the event generated a lot of interest among cricket fans in India, and also in some other countries.
